Worship without Walls - The Wave of the Future?
The earth is the LORD's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
Psalm 24:1
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:16-18
Redefining Church for a New Age
It seemed very natural when we started meeting at the park to enjoy some time with each other on the Sabbath and discuss our ideas about living our spirituality in this modern age. Essenes have always been reverent of nature and the creation of our Mother and Father. It seemed correct to spend our worship time outside - in the midst of the abundant display of the love of God. It also was very freeing. Our little worship group was not tied to maintaining a brick and mortar structure. We could spend our time in study and worship and use our funds strictly for God's work.
Ho'omana Health Ministry had created a different definition of church. Church is a community - no a place. We did not realize at the time that we were on the cusp of a new trend. However, this article from Christian Science Monitor reveals that other churches have also found the advantages of freeing themselves from the four wall mentality Foreclosures have forced some churches to meet in unconventional locations but now, others are joining in -- willingly.
